In a Nutshell
Carefully sourced from older Malbec vineyards in the cool Geographe region close to the Southern Ocean.
Intense ripe blackcurrant aromas with aromatic spices of clove and vanilla. Black current and black berry fruit flavours are backed by fine, well structured tannins . The ripe fruit is sumptuous and lingers on the palate.
The Malbec was sourced largely from vines grown in the Geographe region. A region of considerable beauty with great variation in topography and scenery. The climate is mostly maritime with warm to hot conditions. Excessively warm temperatures are modified by prevailing South west breezes coming off the Indian Ocean. Summers are dry but rainfall is generous during winter and relative humidity is high. The region is watered by several rivers which have over millions of years created fertile valleys on their way from the Darling Ranges to the coast. The Coastal tuart sands have limestone as their parent material and overlie limestone; a permanent water table at a depth of 3-15m is a further aid to viticulture.
intensity. The vintage was warm and dry resulting in pristine fruit condition and low yields. The Malbec fruit was harvested cold at night and crushed and destemmed to static fermenters and allowed a cold soaking prior to ferment. After fermentation at moderate temperatures for 8 days and post maceration and careful pressing, the wine was racked into 2-5 yar old French Hogsheads for maturation.
Quintessentially Australian, this range offers consistent quality, hugely appealing, commercial wine styles that have gained a loyal following.
