In a Nutshell
A modern white rioja - unoaked with fresh, bright and crisp flavours.
100% unoaked Viura. Clean, fresh and attractive nose showing hints of lemon and citrus. Fresh and lively palate with zesty acidity.
Artesa Rioja Viura is made from 100% Viura grapes cultivated in vineyards in the Rioja Baja region of Spain. The vineyards are at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level and the Viura vines are, on average, 20 years old. 80% of the vines are trained in the trellis method and 20% are bush trained. The vineyards have clay stone soils with some sandy spots.
The Viura grapes are crushed and chilled for several hours before temperature controlled fermentation is carried out (temperature is not allowed to exceed 21 degrees Centigrade during fermentation). The wine is fined using bentonite and filtered (plate method) before being bottled.
This large, family-owned estate draws from 800 hectares of elevated hillside vineyards in some of the best zones of Rioja Baja.
