Fragrant, soft in style, hints of honeycomb with citrus, dark honey and red fruits notes. Soft creamy mouthfeel. Red berry fruits overlay a faint nutty oak. Medium length finish of citrus, honey vanilla and hint of sherry casks.
The best young Scottish malted barley is milled to grist and mixed with soft water from two local springs the Ardcanny and the Brauchill (or Lady's Well). After fermentation the wash goes through two slow distillations in tall copper pot stills, exact replicas of the original copper stills made in 1879, these produce a sweet, fruity and elegant spirit. Maturation takes place in traditional dunnage warehouses in ex Bourbon barrels, a smaller number of second and third fill Sherry butts is also used. The latest addition to the Reserve Collection, Vintage Reserve is blended from 10 different vintages. The variety of vintages and cask types gives it a balance of complex maturity and vibrant youth. The oldest whisky was from the year 1989 bringing mellow oak and dried fruits; while the most youthful was from 2007 which brings zesty lemon citrus notes. With all Glenrothes Reserves the selection process is strict, complex and exclusive: Master Distiller Gordon Motion hand selects from just 3% of the finest casks, only bottling whiskies that are mature and ready.
