Classic Lowland malt, lighter in style, floral, sweet & creamy with a light, dry finish.
Pale gold. Aromatic, vanilla, cut flowers, a clean toasty note. Sweet creaminess builds with fresh citrus notes. Light, smooth sweetness. Crisp mid-palate then creamy, citrus and floral, turning drier and herbal on the finish.
Water from the local Lammermuir Hills is mixed with fine local barley, both contribute to the lighter delicate character of this single malt. Distillation takes place in the distillery''s two fat copper pot stills, among the largest in the business. As with many of the Classic Malts the spirit vapour is cooled using a single cast-iron worm tub in preference to a more modern condenser, giving a whisky of greater character and depth. This 12 year old replaces the now discontinued 10 year old, devotees applaud the twelve as being richer in flavour with a creamier mouth feel.
Glenkinchie Distillery is one of two remaining distilleries in the Lowland region. It lies in a glen close to the village of Pencaitland in the beautiful rolling barley fields of East Lothian, only 30 minutes from the capital city of Edinburgh.
